It looks like this BMW leaked douche all over the ground. There must be a flat-brimmed hat somewhere around here to sop it up.

So many cars have this now that I’m completely unphased. Just saw a Mustang AND a Lincoln with them.

those at least came with it stock. AND it makes sense because it comes on as you come up to the car....vs this is just happening from when the door is open

True, I just don’t get why it’s even a thing!

For some reason, the Mustang one is fun, like it’s “Ground Speed” and other flashy stuff. On luxury cars however... yuck.

If only they were half as useful as an actual puddle light.

Agreed, mostly. It was a rental 528 (through Turo.com, review coming soon) with the 8 speed and I must say that was the best automatic I’ve ever driven. Too many gears, but the changes were fast and smooth and I could leave it in auto mode with no problems.

Douchy? Yeah, but it’s enough to impress a lot of non-car people. I know a guy who installed those puddle lights in his E90 and it almost draws more attention than the douch matte wrap on his car.

I had a 528i as a loaner from the dealer before, it wasn’t bad at all.

Puddle lamps are great, but the logo is just too much IMO.

I saw a GLE with the projectors coming out of the mirror housing before entering. It was cool but I can see it getting old right away. I would instead prefer something clever like say the Batman logo.

There’s an old yellow Mitsubishi Lancer near me with a bunch of Batman decals on it. Also there used to be a white Range Rover with Punisher decals. Apparently love of comic book decals on vehicles spans all tax brackets.

Yeah, it’s the branding that gets me. A puddle light can be useful, but does it have to be yet another way to shout out your brand?

When we bought my wife’s new CX-5 the dealer tried to upsell these to us. Um. No.

Yeah, the logo makes it a little harder to actually read the texture of the ground.

They certainly do span tax brackets - seen on the same exact day:
